Fylde Speakers Club Dines with Mr Michael Jack

On Monday, Fylde Speakers Club held its Summer Dinner at the House of Commons, hosted by Mr Michael Jack, the Fylde Member of Parliament. The club was well supported by members and friends.

Phil Langley, the Fylde Club President, presided over the dinner. Phillip Scott, a Fylde S C member and an Association of Speakers Clubs National Contest winner, proposed the Toast to the Guests and Pat Modley, from Morecambe S C, replied on behalf of the guests.

Michael Coyle said Grace and Derek Barker was the Toastmaster.

Mr Michael Jack, the Guest Speaker, entertained the club relating his varied experiences as a member of parliament and replied to questions from members and guests.

The Fylde President thanked Mr Jack for an excellent evening and wished him well for his retirement when the time arrives.

Fylde S C is part of a national organisation, the Association of Speakers Clubs. The purpose of the club is to help people learn and practice speaking skills in a supportive environment. It meets at the Assembly Rooms, Lytham, fortnightly Wednesdays from 2nd September 2009 at 7.45pm.
